Melodious hooks, infectious rhythms and a fantastic live performance are just part of what makes the Tyler Ward a musical force to be reckoned with.

Although polished and refined as a musician, music wasn’t always Tyler’s focus. Encouraged by his father at a young age to pursue athletics, Tyler spent his time scoring touchdowns and winning football games. “Football was my life,” Tyler states. “Every aspect, from the cleats to the jockstrap, I loved it.”

After completing high school, Tyler was accepted to the United States Air Force Academy where he began his collegiate football career. He never adjusted to the military lifestyle. “I smiled too much,” Tyler says. It was because of his excessive smiling and creative expression that Tyler found himself scrubbing toilets and cleaning floors on the weekends.

Despite the intensive janitorial experience, Tyler decided to move on. He left the Air Force Academy and accepted a scholarship to the University Of Northern Colorado. It was there when Tyler polished his songwriting skills. “I loved writing music in college,” Tyler explains. “I loved it so much that I would get in trouble for skipping classes and football practices to finish up song ideas.” Tyler believes that his songwriting developed as he pursued his journalism degree.
